abyme-image

What would moving-image be if we put it into an ‘abyss’ of repetition? Mise-en-abyme in media brings a moment of self-reflection and heightens the viewer’s awareness of the specificity of the artistic medium. In this piece, the viewer’s attention is diverted from the content to the bearer medium and its additive/reductive quality. As the images become poorer within the cycle of displaying in various screens, the immediacy is disrupted. The accelerating degradation/loss in the image fortifies the affective materiality of media that works beyond the communication and representation effects.
